Would you like to make a pawsitive impact with your pet? We are looking for individuals who can volunteer a minimum of six times a year with their pet in our program serving the special needs community. Click here for details. 


We have opportunities across Maricopa County and Tucson. There is no need to go through National "Therapy Dog" registration; we do all assessments in-house. 


Handler Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Have a valid AZ Fingerprint clearance card or Level 3 background check.
  • Enjoys working with kids and adults with special needs.
  • Actively advocates for their pet.
  • Available to volunteer during the weekday a minimum of six times per year.

Animal Requirements:

  • At least one year of age
  • Owned by the handler for eight months.
  • Current on vaccines or proof of titers
  • Tolerates abrupt sounds and movements.
  • Comfortable around medical equipment

Eligible species:

  • Dog
  • Cat
  • Pig
  • Bird
  • Mini horse/donkey
  • Alpaca
  • Goat
  • Pocket Pets (Rabbit or ferret)
  • Tortoise
  • Reptiles (Ball python or Bearded Dragon)
