We provide financial aid for attendance at The Meadows Behavioral Healthcare and support other nonprofits with similar goals. Our organization is driven by a passion for empowering survivors and creating a supportive community.

Role Overview

The Board Secretary will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective governance and operation of the board. The Secretary is responsible for documenting meeting minutes, recording board votes, and handling other essential administrative tasks. This is a voting position within the board, providing an opportunity to contribute to strategic decision-making and organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meeting Documentation: Accurately document minutes for all quarterly board meetings and any special meetings.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain and organize all official board documents and records, including minutes, and voting resolutions.
  • Communication: Facilitate communication among board members, especially regarding updates, emergency votes, and other crucial information.
  • Voting Participation: Actively participate in board discussions and votes, contributing to the decision-making process.
  • Feedback and Collaboration: Provide input and feedback on organizational strategies, initiatives, and policies, especially concerning outreach and support for survivors of sexual violence.
  • Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other board members and staff, demonstrating a commitment to the mission and values of Survivors Empowered.


Qualifications

  • Professional Background: Experience in the legal field. event planner, psychology, or insurance is preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and convey information clearly.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in record-keeping and documentation.
  • Passion for Nonprofit Work: A genuine interest in supporting survivors of sexual violence and contributing to nonprofit initiatives.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively while also offering individual insights and perspectives.
  • Location: Although the position is remote, preference may be given to those in or near Tempe, Arizona, to align with other board members.
