Get Ready: Thriving Communities Environmental Justice Grant to open in AZ Jan 15th

Friends,

We are excited to let you know that on January 15th, the EPA’s Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program will open for projects located in Arizona. This grant opportunity is designed to empower community-based organizations, Tribes, and local governments, to advance meaningful environmental and resiliency projects in their communities.

Attached, you’ll find some early details about the grant program, funding amounts, types of projects, who is eligible to apply, and more. On January 13th at 3pm MST, we hope you will join us for a webinar that will provide an overview of the grant opportunity. Please sign up here to receive details for this virtual event. It will be recorded and made available for those who aren’t able to join at that time.

This funding comes from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through an unprecedented government investment in communities disproportionately impacted by climate and health-related challenges. A total of $48 million in funding is available for our region. The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA) was selected to join a group of funders located across EPA Region 9, led by Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE), to distribute funds across the state of Arizona as well as Tribal lands.

We wanted to get you some general information as soon as possible so you can start thinking about projects that align with the program before the application launches on January 15th. Please feel free to share with folks working in these areas who may be interested. If you have any questions, feel free to reply to this message or reach out to thriving@cfsaz.org and our team will be happy to assist you.
