About

Paws for Youth was originally founded as Gabriel’s Angels in 2000 and rebranded in 2026 to strengthen visibility, deepen partnerships, and reach more young people in need of support and connection in the wake of trauma.

By pairing kids and teens who have experienced trauma with trained therapy pets and dedicated volunteers, Paws for Youth (formerly Gabriel’s Angels) helps them navigate challenges, feel valued, and grow to their full potential.

With the unconditional love of therapy pets to guide the way, youth build confidence and enjoy learning the nuances of forming healthy relationships, treating others with respect and kindness, regulating their emotions, and more. This pet therapy work goes beyond comfort,  it’s transformative, intentional, and driven by data for maximum impact. 

Our pet therapy programs are designed to develop seven core strengths (teamwork, relationships, regulation, attunement, kindness, celebrating differences, and respect) that lead to increased resilience

Thanks to support from our Arizona community, programs are always provided completely free of charge.
