Meet the Experts:

P. Alan Knoblock, CFRE - Co-Founder, Synergy Philanthropy

Alan has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 30 years and has served as a fundraising consultant on two occasions, the latest since 2019 when he founded PAL Consulting and Strategic Gifts Executives. Prior to that, he held positions in Arizona of Senior Associate Director of Development at the Nature Conservancy; Principal Gifts Offer at St. Joseph's Hospital and Barrow Neurological Institute; Director of Gift Planning for Phoenix Children's Hospital and held the same position with Valley of the Sun United Way. Alan also spent twelve years with the American Cancer Society at the Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico divisions culminating as Director of Development.

Michele M. Rebeor, CFRE - Co-Founder, Synergy Philanthropy

Michele has served Arizona’s nonprofit industry as an accomplished development professional and fundraising consultant for more than 35 years. Throughout her career she has successfully navigated multifaceted leadership roles in annual fundraising, program and staff management, employee campaigns, event planning, grant writing and high-capacity donor cultivation. In 2016 she advanced her commitment to the nonprofit sector by establishing Michele M. Rebeor Consulting sharing her sincere, innovative, and hands-on expertise. Michele has continued to extend her consulting practice and skill development, representing national firms, including IPM Advancement and CCS Fundraising.

In 2022 Alan and Michelle joined to form Synergy Philanthropy to offer a comprehensive array of experience and expertise in strategic nonprofit consulting.


Kevin Wallace - President, Campaign Counsel

Campaign Counsel is a firm specializing in capital campaign planning and management. Since 2003, he has conducted and overseen more than 90 campaign planning studies and capital campaigns that have raised more than $200 million for nonprofits across the U.S and abroad. Kevin holds a master's degree in international management from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University.

 Kevin has been married to his wife, Clare, for 30 years. He has five children, three daughters-in-law and three grandchildren. He and Clare moved from Tucson to Sonoita, AZ in 2022. They love the land, culture and people. When he is not working, Kevin spends time visiting with his children and grandchildren and trail running through the hills and mountains of southern Arizona.

 


Judith A. Smith, MA, CFRE - President, GivingSMITH

Judi Smith brings more than 40 years of nonprofit leadership experience spanning higher education, the arts, and national and international philanthropy. She has served as an executive director, planned giving director, capital campaign specialist, marketing and communications manager, teacher, writer, coach, and mentor. As senior director of planned giving at the Arizona Community Foundation, she led Classes 8–11 of the Arizona Endowment Building Institute and created the Planned Giving 100 and 200 series for nonprofits statewide. She also supported regional offices with complex gifts, trained allied professionals, and managed her own portfolio of legacy donors.

Judi has consulted across sectors including conservation, education, social services, the arts, religion, animal welfare, and community foundations. A national speaker and author on charitable giving, she is a past president of gift planning councils in Phoenix and St. Louis and currently serves on the Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable board and the Phoenix Zoo’s advisory council.


 

Bethany Taylor - President, - Good Works Grant Writing

Bethany is a seasoned fundraiser with more than 25 years of experience helping mission-driven organizations achieve their goals. Her fundraising journey includes serving as a major gifts officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, leading development at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and serving as Chief Development Officer for Make-A-Wish® Arizona. In 2011, Bethany launched Good Works Grant Writing, a consultancy dedicated to supporting nonprofits in building strong, sustainable grant program. Annually her firm helps its clients secure more than $20 million in combined grant funding. Bethany holds a Master’s in Nonprofit Studies from Arizona State University, a Certificate in Fundraising from UCLA, and dual bachelor's degrees in Communications and History from the University of Tennessee. Bethany is passionate about equipping nonprofit leaders with the tools, systems, and strategic thinking necessary to compete for transformational grant funding.
